This modern Italian pastry café, located at Golden Beach, on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, was brought to life by Heath Nicholson and the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South team. The popular business, famous for its mouth-watering cannoli, started out as a simple hole in the wall, then Covid hit. Despite the pandemic, customers were lining up from 4.30am in the morning and the owners, Paolo and Giuliana, managed to grow their small Italian business into the successful, popular café, dining experience it is today.
The project brief was to create a modern café fit out, with clean lines, a warm inviting service area and a touch of Italian style. A functional commercial kitchen was essential, along with ample storage, comfortable ‘dine in’ seating, custom joinery (to showcase the retail side of the business) and don’t forget an exceptionally warm yet practical servery space.
The design team created an idyllic hospitality space which benefits from an abundance natural light. The use of soft downlights and neon signage add to the ambience. Clever windows and roller doors allow fresh air to flow throughout the space and custom handcrafted joinery was installed to maximise shelving for speciality products and displays.
Stylish Italian blue feature tiles were hand selected by the in-house design team to compliment the Tasmanian Oak timber accents and extensive, stone counter tops. European style pastries, cakes, savoury croissants, panini and sweets are showcased in custom built glass fridges and displays.
The Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South talented team provided the complete concept to completion service. From interpreting the client’s vision, “light, bright, airy, with a modern warmth and touch of Italy”, to council approvals, quality construction and handover. Frequent communication, in-house expertise, great relationships with local trades and quality workmanship helped the project run smoothly to time and budget.
