Total Fitouts Perth South undertook the complete commercial design and construction of the Joondalup ENT commercial medical fit out, creating a clean and contemporary space that is both professional and welcoming. Joondalup ENT is a specialised Ear, Nose, and Throat practice located on the ground floor of a high-quality, well-finished building in a busy area, ensuring easy access for patients. The practice is managed by notable specialists Peter Friedland, known as Nelson Mandela’s doctor, Alistair Gliksman, and Abdul Kader Ebrahim. While surgical procedures are conducted in affiliated hospitals, the clinic focuses primarily on consultations, providing comprehensive ENT care to ensure patient satisfaction and health.

The commercial medical fitout includes four consult rooms equipped for detailed patient consultations, a dedicated sterilisation room to maintain medical hygiene standards, and staff facilities comprising a toilet and kitchen area. Additionally, there is a large and comfortable waiting room, a welcoming reception area, a separate practice manager room, an admin room, a storage area, and a kids’ room/play area designed to keep young patients entertained. The timeline included four weeks for a comprehensive design package, an additional four weeks for certification and building approval, and 12 weeks for construction and delivery, despite delays due to the Christmas break.

The commercial interior design of Joondalup ENT, executed by Total Fitouts Perth South in-house commercial designers, embodies a perfect blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, tailored to meet the specific needs of an Ear, Nose, and Throat practice. The space is characterised by its clean, contemporary lines and a professional yet welcoming ambience, designed to put patients at ease from the moment they step through the door. Upon entering the commercial fitout, patients are greeted by a spacious reception area, featuring rammed earth tiles at the counter that add a unique, earthy texture to the modern decor. This is complemented by custom-made Aboriginal booth seating, which not only provides comfort but also pays homage to local culture, creating a sense of place and connection.

The waiting room of the commercial medical fitout is large and inviting, designed to be both functional and comfortable. Acoustic lighting is a standout feature, reducing noise levels and contributing to a calm and serene atmosphere. This thoughtful integration of lighting enhances the overall patient experience, ensuring a tranquil environment conducive to relaxation. The practice includes four consult rooms, each meticulously designed to facilitate detailed patient consultations. These rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and furnishings that prioritise both patient comfort and clinical efficiency. The commercial design of these spaces ensures that doctors can conduct their consultations effectively, with all necessary tools at their fingertips.

A dedicated sterilisation room is incorporated into the commercial interior design, reflecting the practice’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical hygiene. This room is strategically located to ensure ease of access from the consult rooms, streamlining the workflow for the medical staff.

However, the project faced several challenges, including parking issues, coordination with on-site security and furniture supply extending the timeline due to imports from Sydney. However, the commercial shopfit experts were able to overcome any issues they faced and deliver the medical space on time and to budget.

Despite these challenges, Total Fitouts Perth South successfully delivered a state-of-the-art medical fit out for Joondalup ENT, ensuring a high standard of commercial design and functionality.
