Madame Me Me’s, located in Hervey Bay QLD, contacted Warren Thorpe and the Total Fitouts Wide Bay team to help them build their wellness & beauty fit out.
Director Warren said; “When we were tasked with creating the best new hair salon in Hervey Bay, we knew we were up to the challenge! Total Fitouts Wide Bay is proud to have taken Brett and Lee’s vision of a sophisticated new hair salon and made it a reality, ready for their move from Brisbane to Hervey Bay! The commercial shop-fitting team took the unassuming empty office, our design team smashed out a perfect design and then we fitted it from top to bottom with the style the owners desired. We couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this new sleek look for Hervey Bay.”
The Details – Owners Brett Wise and Lee Hayward engaged the local team for the design and fit out of their high-end, award-winning hair salon. The scope included crafting a luxurious, memorable, front of house experience for guests, plus back of house facilities which included a kitchen and bathroom area.
The wellness and beauty fitout started life as a bare and empty office space on a popular main road in the heart of Hervey Bay. The design team worked closely with the owners to ascertain their functional business requirements upfront. Sketches, mood boards and 3D renders were created to ensure the design team captured the style, personality and brand of the owners and the experience they desired to create for their clientele. The look and feel was to be predominantly monochrome, with a touch of lux and a splash of glamour.

My team were tasked with creating a functional yet luxurious hair salon which encapsulated the larger-than-life owners’ personalities and their strong sense of style. The scope included creating six practical hair dressing workspaces with built-in wash basins, a welcoming reception, an interactive consultation hub and don’t forget the comfy waiting room. We wanted to deliver the ‘monochrome meets luxury’ finish the clients desired, but also ensure the space work effectively as a pampering treatment retreat. Collaborative mood boards and 3D renders helped us show the clients that we understood the look and feel they wanted to create, whilst helping them visualise what their final fit out would look like.”
After the existing office space was defit (made good) the team commenced the project which took approximately 4 weeks. The whole space from floor to ceiling was fitted out. Hard-wearing, high traffic, vinyl flooring was laid, lux stripy rhinestone wallpaper was hung, signature tap-ware, basins, ornate mirrors and chandeliers installed throughout. Mood lighting and feature led strips completed the look. The Total Fitouts carpentry team hand crafted bespoke seating, bench-tops, storage spaces, reception area and branded signage.
The owner wanted to create a memorable, lux and bling retreat that appeals to Hervey Bays clients who crave a touch of pampering and indulgence. They wanted to create a fit out that their clients would want to escape to, a place they could be treated.
Telia, another Total Fitouts Designer, says, “Owners Brett and Lee had a very clear vision of the wellness and beauty fit out they desired. They wanted us to create a lux, high-end, retreat where high-quality hair dressing merges with modern wellness and treatments services. The style was black, white, velvet, metal and sparkle. Bespoke signage, hand selected couture works of art, dog statues, striking prints, leather chaits, backlit mirrors and clever lighting created a luxury, atmospheric yet functional space.”
Aesthetically, a high end, monochrome, indulgent feel was created featuring bespoke upholstery, vintage pieces, and marble countertops. Brass fixtures, matt black assents, and bronze metal finishes were selected to achieve the desired style. Two giant onyx dog statues were chosen to oversee the project, acting as guards of the salon.
Ishoa says, “The client was very clear about the style and vision of the Madame Me Mes brand. We worked closely with them, to bring their concept to life. They had many functional and practical design requirements including 6 individual styling chairs and a bespoke reception desk for meeting guests. Oversized chandeliers, feature pendants, gold features, marble, artwork and statues were installed to pull the whole lux-monochrome hair salon concept together.”
Warren, Ishoa, Telia and the Total Fitouts Wide Bay team expertly managed the design, construct and build project, delivering bespoke touches, custom timber joinery, mood lighting and luxury finishes. The result another memorable wellness and beauty fit out for the Total Fitouts local team of fit out professionals.
