Plaza Central Medical & Aesthetics Maroochydore

Plaza Central Medical + Aesthetics, located in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, was brought to life by the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast North team. Owner Radhika Narayan contacted the local shop fitting team to help bring her medical fitout vision to life.

The shopfit team said, “Radhika wanted to build a non-traditional medical centre where patients could walk in and feel comfortable and at ease. She wanted to help eliminate the feeling of ‘anxiety’ commonly associated with sitting in a sterile medical centre waiting room.”

Radhika supplied the design and the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast North team worked closely with her to deliver exactly what she wanted. The modern medical fit out, location on the ground floor of a brand-new development in Maroochydore’s regentrified CBD, consisted of transforming two spaces into a single multifunctional space which included an inviting reception and waiting room, multiple treatment rooms and ample back-of-house facilities (kitchen, toilets and more).

The shopfit team said, “Bespoke cabinetry, hardwood partitions, wooden features and built-in storage/ shelving were essential elements in this modern, fresh, medical space. The centre needed to function practically as a medical centre, but also feel warm and inviting for patients. High traffic proof vinyl flooring was a great option for the functionality of the centre and the addition of feature black doors and copper handles added an element of style.”

Other important design elements were the creation of 7 treatment rooms (big enough to incorporate chunky medical equipment), a welcoming reception area and a comfortable yet stylish waiting space. The always essential ‘patient privacy’ requirements were achieved with clever acoustic panelling, verdant plants, and bespoke hardwood screens. Neutral colours, timber, stone tops, copper accents and high-end render finishes allowed the traditionally sterile space to feel warm and inviting for patients.

A neutral colour palette, feature pendant lighting (including a beautiful chandelier in the reception area) and bespoke led strip lighting throughout, created a sense of calm and a low anxiety atmosphere. Feature artwork, wall prints, and tropical plants added natural, earthy, beach elements to the medical space. The addition of an oversized barn door, with copper accents, and hand-crafted bespoke carpentry with marble tops really added a lux feeling to the traditionally sterile medical space. 

Radhika says, “The Total Fitouts journey was amazing, they knew exactly what we were looking for. They explained the fit out process in simple terms and were always approachable, professional and helpful. I absolutely love my new space. My patients feel warm and welcome.”
