Effortless Urban Grunge
Gritty urbanism meets playful expression at Scooter and Skate, Birtinya’s new skate shop. This exciting project champions and celebrates the grungy aesthetic roots of skate culture in an effortless fashion. We brought these roots to the front of this shop design through incorporating industrial design elements such as polished concrete surfaces, exposed brick, fluorescent lights, fencing materials, graffiti and a free-to-use skate ramp.
Beyond perfecting the urban aesthetics, two focuses remained central for Heath and his team at Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South: to let the products be the focus points, and to bring cohesion to the three separate areas of the space. They did this by ensuring a cohesive design plan, installing bright, industrial lighting, and securing a clear line of sight throughout the spaces.
Ultimately, Heath helped the owners of Scooter and Skate create a skate shop that is more than a shop – it’s a relaxed and joyful celebration of skate culture, and a place for the local community to come together to skate, connect, play, and source new gear.
